Program Description

This program prepares the student for entry-level nursing positions in hospitals or comparable facilities. Clinical learning experiences are required some courses. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN). Successful completion of this examination results in licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Graduates of this program will be able to:

- Use clinical reasoning to provide holistic patient-centered care to diverse patient populations across the lifespan.
- Assume accountability for own behavior and nursing practice based upon legal and ethical principles, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards.
- Manage patient care through effective communication, interdisciplinary collaboration and information technology to support decision making within systems-based practice.
- Participate in initiatives to minimize the risk of harm and optimize the quality and safety of patient care through individual performance and system effectiveness.
- Use the best current evidence coupled with clinical expertise and consideration of patients’ preferences, experience and values to make practice decisions.

Faculty recommend that ENGL122 be taken in the summer term.  For a full-time credit load in semester 5, students may take courses required for the BSN degree.
