Program Description

This 43-credit comprehensive certificate will prepare students for entry level positions as automotive service technicians. The students participate in hands-on experiences in testing, diagnosing, and repairing automobiles. Emphasis in class and laboratory is placed on real-world, hands-on experience. Upon completion, the student is fully qualified to work in an auto service center/dealership as an auto technician, and may lead to positions such as service advisor and parts counter person.

The 43 Automotive credits can be combined with an additional 20 credits of General Education to fulfill the requirements for the AAS degree in Automotive Technology.

Graduates of this program will be able to:

- Demonstrate proficiency in the diagnosis of an automobile malfunction
- Demonstrate competency in the repair and service of an automobile
- Demonstrate proficiency in the repair of advanced automotive electronic and computer systems
