Substation Technology I

Course Description

This course is specifically designed for students in the Electric Utility Technology program. The course provides the knowledge and skills to perform maintenance in electrical substation and switchyards. Students will understand and apply the proper techniques to operate power and hydraulic actuated tools as applied to conduit forming and cable tray layouts. Included are advanced training in the operation of substation ground maintenance vehicles and rigging and construction of substation and switchyard facilities. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and rigging safety awareness requirements will be included in this course. NOTE: This course is offered only in the Fall term.
