Adult Critical Care

Course Description

In this course, the student will study the principles of adult intensive care. Topics include initiation, maintenance, monitoring and withdrawal of mechanical ventilation, airway management, and principles of hemodynamic monitoring. The selection and maintenance of ventilators and other equipment used in the critical care unit will also be discussed. The student will practice skills in the college laboratory, and work with groups of patients in a clinical setting. (Prerequisites: RESP-163, RESP-164 and RESP-165; Corequisite: RESP- 261; Prerequisite or Corequisite: BIOL-213 and PSYC-106)
