Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

Recommend and execute care and follow-up appropriate to the client’s needs after the initial phase is completed utilizing a variety of interventions.

Utilize teaching, modeling, and other counseling techniques to support clients, family members, and significant other in establishing and maintaining new behaviors or changes in behavior in order to minimize relapse.

Demonstrate respect and accepting attitudes/behaviors toward the diverse cultures, lifestyles, and spiritual beliefs of all clients, family members, and significant others.

Appraise public policies and agency regulations regarding substance abuse and treatment.
