Introduction to Addiction Studies

Course Description

This course is a general, introductory course in addiction studies. The course is primarily oriented toward helping students understand the fundamentals of addictive behavior and mental process, especially as regards (a) the biomedical forces integral to chemical dependency (b) drug and alcohol education and awareness (c) the recovery process (d) personal wellness (e) professional consultation and (f) medical issues related to chemical abuse, such as HIV and AIDS. NOTE: This course is offered only in the Fall term.
