Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

Develop and apply programming and schematic design skills including written programs that document the requirements of the project, criteria/adjacency matrix, bubble diagrams, and furniture, furnishings, and equipment (FF&E) needs demonstrating a thorough understanding of the design process.

Analyze problems concerning spatial relationships and planning; students will develop an understanding of human interaction with the built environment and apply ergonomic, proxemic, and anthropometric concepts to their design solutions.

Experiment with basic design elements and principles, and universal design concepts.

Apply skills in both sketching and more formal methods of graphic presentation including furniture plans, elevations, RCP, millwork, perspectives, presentation boards and color renderings of various aspects of their projects.

Create a visual presentation using formats and techniques appropriate for their project.

Prepare and deliver a verbal presentation of their design projects using Industry Standard Design vocabulary.
