African-American History II
Course Description
Students will examine the complex historical, sociocultural and environmental forces which have shaped the African-American culture and its communities in the United States. After surveying how slavery became institutionalized in Colonial America, students will focus on events, legislation and issues defining the struggles, acts of resistance, varied accomplishments and cultural experiences unique to African-Americans from the Civil War and Reconstruction Era to contemporary times. NOTE: This course is offered only in the Spring term.
