History of Architecture: Industrial Revolution to Modernism

Course Description

The student will study the history of modern architecture from its precursors in the late 19th century through the "Late Modernist" movements after World War II. The student will be able to consider the technological, social, economic and cultural factors which have helped to shape the development of modern architecture relative to modern history and culture. Emphasis on American, regional and European architecture. (Prerequisites: READ-092, READ-095 or satisfactory completion of the College's foundational studies requirement in reading and ENGL-121)
