Architectural Construction II

Course Description

A continuation of ARCH 151 that relates construction to architectural design. This will include an investigation of factors such as building codes, structure and mechanical system issues. The course will study materials and methods of masonry, concrete and steel construction. Commercial building planning and basic environmental systems will also be explored. Emphasis will be placed on criteria for selection of materials and systems, materials research, standards and test methods and forces of deterioration. Course material will be presented through lectures, field trips, films and case studies. (Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or higher in ARCH 151 or permission of instructor)
