Description: The course will examine the major developments in human history from 1500 to the present. It will focus on the elements involved in Europe’s self-transformation into a modern society as seen in its intellectual, industrial and imperialist movements, and the world wars. Emphasis will also be placed on the history of Asian, African, Middle Eastern and Latin American societies and the impact of imperialism of those cultures; their reactions to, interaction with, and finally independence from Western dominance in the 20th century will also be explored.
