The student will learn to give immediate care to a person who has been injured or has suddenly been taken ill. The course includes self-help and home care if medical assistance is not available or is delayed. One-half of the course is related to cardiovascular risk factors, heart failure and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. An American Red Cross Certification in CPR and First Aid may be issued upon successful completion of this course. A Red Cross Certification fee is required for registration.
