Emergency Medical Technician

Course Description

This course prepares students as an Emergency Medical Technician. Students will learn how to manage medical emergencies including bleeding, fractures, airway obstruction, emergency childbirth and cardiac emergencies. Course work emphasizes the use and maintenance of common emergency equipment such as backboards, suction devices, splints, oxygen delivery systems, and stretchers. Program graduates must pass a written examination administered by the State Department of Health in order to receive certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic. (Current Professional Level CPR Card; American Red Cross or American Heart)
