Counseling and Advising

As part of the initial admission and registration process, after taking the basic skills test, all degree seeking (matriculated) students must meet with a counselor (student development specialist) or an Advisor to determine the courses in which they are eligible to enroll to meet program goals. Once course approvals are entered into the electronic data system, students are able to register either online or in person. Degree seeking students will be able to register for courses without approval after successfully completing 12 credits. Advisors and Counselors remain available to provide assistance throughout the student’s educational career. NOTE: While Advisors and Counselors make recommendations and in many cases formally approve courses, students are ultimately responsible and accountable for final course selection, registration, and degree completion.

See Student Services  for additional information regarding the Advisement and Counseling department and Student Development Services available to all students.
