Graphic Design, A.A.S.

This program prepares students seeking to pursue entry-level positions in graphic, advertising, marketing, and installation design.  Career studies courses provide knowledge base in typography, illustration, production, and process techniques related to software, photography, and analogue skill sets.  Students will develop a diverse professional portfolio consisting of studio projects based in print, digital, and environmental media including visual identity, way-finding, and packaging design.

Graduates of this program will be able to:


  • Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy of type and apply to contemporary branding techniques
  • Develop proficiency in visual communication skills through graphic techniques used in various digital software programs
  • Apply effective visual and critical thinking skills to the implementation of the design problem-solving process
  • Implement visual communication principles to the successful realization of a product identity and packaging needs
  • Apply contemporary illustrative concepts to communicate an effective storyline in visual graphics
  • Explore new, experimental and theoretical thinking emerging within the field of graphic design
